You know the biblical story of Noah’s Ark from a man’s point of view. Now, Two By Two gives the animal’s version. Not all plain sailing as two young ones miss the boat and are left behind to defend for themselves. they have to get to high land before the floods come in or even worse get eaten by two comical ravenous griffins.
A Nestrian – Finny (Voice of Callum Maloney) and a Grymp – Leah (Voice of Ava Connolly) have to put their differences aside to survive. Leah being the brave one is reluctant to make friends but soon realises that you have to work as a team to survive, it is impossible do it on your own. They soon meet a slug – Obesey (Voice of Paul Tylak) and a parasite called StickyPut (Voice of Chris Evans) who makes their journey that much difficult.
Leah wants to continue her journey without the others whereas Finny being the gentle, caring one helps the other two by giving them shelter and encouragement. Meanwhile, their parents on the ark, having to convince the Captain Lion to turn the ark round to find the lost evolutionary outcasts. Their journey unites them putting their differences aside and eventually accepting their own strength and weaknesses.
From a six year old boy’s point of view I could see that he enjoyed it thoroughly. This was a simple story with a good morale to it but from an adults point of view, a very simple story, colourful (typical of DreamWorks), nothing new or exciting to make it stand out from other films like Nemo. Nevertheless, a pleasant 87 minutes spent with my ‘Grandson L’Kai and his Nana. Something different ,whilst the whole country is in search of a polling station. L’kai gave his vote as a YES – so I will have to support him in that .after all it is made for little cinema viewers.
